Samantha McCloudGirl Scout Ambassador
Samantha created SunSafe Together in honor of her grandfather, Ron Parnell, whose experience with melanoma inspired her to help others learn about sun safety.
For her Girl Scout Gold Award project, she is collecting sunscreen, working with local community organizations, and sharing sun-safety education with younger Girl Scouts and families.
Her goal is to make sunscreen and reliable information easier to find—and help sun protection become part of everyday outdoor life.

Inspired by her grandfather,

Make the most of your sunscreen
Protection belongs wherever your day takes you.
Look for broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen. Apply it to skin that clothing doesn’t cover.
When outdoors, reapply every two hours and after swimming or sweating. Follow the directions on your bottle.
Seek shade and wear sun-protective clothing, a wide-brimmed hat, and sunglasses with UV protection.
Guidance: American Academy of Dermatology.
